Size, colours and error correction
How to create a QR code
- Choose the type of content: link, text, email, phone or SMS.
- Type it in. The code appears as you write, with no button to press.
- Download it as PNG or SVG, copy the image, or print it.
A QR code that belongs to you
Your content goes straight into the pattern. There is no account, no scan counter and no third-party redirect, so the code does not depend on this site staying online.
Make sure it scans
Keep the white margin around the code, use dark ink on a light background, and test it with a phone before printing. Shorter content gives a simpler pattern that scans from further away.
Need many codes?
The bulk generator turns an Excel or CSV list into hundreds of codes at once.
Known limits
- Codes are static and cannot be edited or tracked after they are created.
- There is no logo option: placing a logo over a code can make it unreadable.
- A code holds up to about 2,900 bytes at level L, and fewer at higher levels.
Frequently asked questions
Is it really free?
Yes. It is 100% free, with no usage limits, no account, no sign-up, no watermark and no paid plan.
Is my data uploaded?
No. The text and links you type are processed inside your browser and never leave your device. The page only downloads its own code from this site. If you accept analytics cookies, Google Analytics receives anonymous usage data such as page views, never your files, their names or the contents of your codes.
Do these QR codes expire?
No. They are static: the content is stored in the pattern itself, with no redirect through any service. They keep working for as long as the content inside them is valid.
Why do other QR codes stop working after a trial?
Many generators create “dynamic” codes that point to their own short link. If the trial ends, the redirect can be switched off and the printed code stops working. Codes made here contain your content directly, so there is nothing to switch off.
PNG or SVG?
SVG for printing and design software, since it stays sharp at any size. PNG for documents, websites and messages.
Which error correction level should I choose?
M suits most uses. Choose Q or H if the code may get dirty or scratched, keeping in mind that higher levels make the pattern denser. L gives the simplest pattern and holds the most data.
Can I edit the link later?
No. A static code cannot change after it is created. To keep that option, point the code at a page you control and change that page.
Analytics: only if you accept cookies, the page loads Google Analytics (through Google Tag Manager) to count visits and see which tools are used. It never receives your files, your text or the contents of your codes. You can change your choice at any time with “Cookie settings” at the bottom of the page.
